Another source of information is Björn Thomasson. You can buy plans for a lot of kayaks from him. He has also written a good book: Kanotboken (in swedish). He is using thinner strips: 5 mm, and light fiberglass: 4.7 ounce. Phone him +46 46 139 416. He will give you a lot of interesting information and good advice.
