It seems like alot of work for minimal gain. Kevlar or fiberglass might be better. I may be wrong, but don't you need to vacuum bag and autoclave most carbon fiber composites?
You could probably get alot of good info from radio controlled slope soaring racers. I have a couple of friends who have done the process, but I have never been around when they do it. They put alot of time, money, and energy into getting extremely smooth (laminar flow), somewhat lightweight (though they add ballast), very sturdy wings.
