Matt- don't worry about the clear resin turning white opaque with sanding, it will turn transparent again with your next resin coat. This will happen with each coat sanding and will actually help you see where you've not sanded on the final coats. The final varnish will again turn your translucent white sanded resin to a beautiful translucent gloss.
