It looks like the cloth will stretch enough to

Slit it. It may work better if you do not slit it up the middle, but about an inch or two to one side of center. This gives you a flap that is at least an inch wide, and serves the same purpose as an extra layer of tape. If you have too much excess material, remove it.
I'd wet out the glass up to a few inches from the end. At that point I could see how much glass I needed, and how it draped. I'd cut it while it was still dry. No need to waste resin and time in wetting out glass that you are going to remove. Paul Jacobson
