The Stain I was using was Minwax "Accents" It's water based and drys quickly without penetrating very deeply. To be safe I am going to sand it off. Better to have the two hairline stripes at the joint than to be worried about delaminating glass. Thanks for the advice.
I read somewhere back a discussion of using rite dye to color strips of
