Why bother? When you wrapped the ends of the glass cloth over each other you effectively put a double layer of glass over that joint.

Adding tape to that would probably be unnecessary. If you want additional reinforcement use a wider piece of fabric (wider than tape, that is) The wider material has four advantages: It spreads the bond over a larger area, which should be a bit stronger, the fabric is thinner and more transparent, you probably have scraps you can use (no additional costs), the ends of the fabric can be easily feathered into your first layer(s) of glass, hiding the apparent thickness of the additional material.

Of course, if your main purpose is to add a layer of material along the keel, by the bow, to protect against dings and scratches, then tape is a fast and simple way to do it.
