You may want to try a decent cabinet scraper. I did some work with a similar tool on mine, and also used a small hand plane for knocking down squished out epoxy with good results. Only caution is for the plane, which to my horror I rediscovered was excellent at taking wood right off, and fiberglass if one is so foolish as to try using one after glassing.
