Hi,
There are so many different 'varnish' products around that it is important to read carefully what the composition of the varnish is and what thinning agent is to be used. This will then give an indication to the type of cleaning product to use.
1: Normal varnish (Thinned with turpentine) Use turpentine to clean and then either suspend or lay the brush in clean turpentine until the next use.
2: Polyurathane and epoxy require a cleaning agent dedicated to the product.
3: Celulose and other products (Automotive clear lac etc. etc) are normally not brushed so a cleaning agent for the spray gun is needed and is normally the thinning agent.
Polyurathane is almost always moisture cured and is absolutly the worst for brushes. I have a rule in my workshop ! If you use polyurathane you use a disposable brush. End of story.
