What makes foam light is the fact that it's mostly gas. You'll have the same problem of expansion / contraction.

I calculated the forces and posted them once upon a time. They're in the archive...

A piece of rubber with a hole poked in it with a guitar string, attached to the bulkhead over a 1/4" hole should work.
