I would put in a hatch, but if you are really anti-hatch, hows-about 2 vents, one with a fitting so you can hook it up to the out-port of a vacuum cleaner, this way you could pump some warm, dry air through it every one in a while. Set the other vent some place near where water will accumulate so it gets forced out when you pump the air.
