In Response To: Venting A Sealed Compartment (Jim Ward)

Chris at Cheaspeake is a good designer and probably has sold more plans than anyone in the kayaking business. The reason he dosen't address venting is because it's not needed. The hatches will leak. I've never seen a strap-down hatch that holds air. (especially under pressure)

Your boat is not going to contract or expand like a baloon. Whatever pressure builds up in the sun will just escape out of the hatch.

Once you learn to roll, you'll see the water in your compartments.
