Okay, here's the absurd...

run a 1/16" ID flexible tube from the compartment all the way out the stern, and trailing a few feet behind the boat. At the end of the trailing tube is a small model of a sailboat hull which has a vent pipe sticking up through its mast. You'll be like a shark with a pilot fish attached.
