I would strongly suggest you go to the link below, go to Gregg Carlson's Hull Designer for Windows, download it, and explore. The program is very good imo for people other then geeks designing boats for a living. Best of all, it's freeware. You can then explore quite easily what sort of changes you will get for various modifications to the hull, and tailor the boat to your special needs quite easily. It's a great program for exploring the what ifs.
I used the link I did because it includes many other softwares for hull modeling as well. Some even more basic and easier, though less detailed (Carene 4.0), and some much more complex and intricately detailed (Hullform).
