Well I found the Official Coast Guard "approved equipment" list.

How much of this stuff is 'required' by kayakers?

I know in Maine they were going to 'force' kayakers to run a signal flag, but it got shot down because the kayakers could not perform a proper roll with such devices.

I'm beginning to feel I should befriend a lawyer just to go paddling.

Geesh!!
