Iv'e got a report done for the Navy that compared various resins and various weaves of E-Glass, Carbon, Spectra, and Kevlar. They used a resin infusion process that produces very high fiber ratios. They say:

"Carbon appears particularly efficient for strength/weight and stiffness/weight designs, but it's low resistance to impact damage, high cost, and concerns with corrosion make the general use of carbon for marine applications unlikely"

They ended up favoring a E-Glass/Kevlar sandwich which saved weight over E-Glass alone and had comparable properties to E-Glass.

Too bad S-Glass wasn't included.
