Having just obtained Nick's book, I am contemplating which design to build. Since my paddling skills are somewhat greater than my stripbuilding experience, I am leaning toward the Great Auk, but would like to know if anyone has reduced the width of the forms to increase efficiency. A one inch reduction is what I have in mind--can anyone comment on whether this would be effective, or catastrophic?
