My two cents are that I am in love with epoxy, and dislike wood glues.

Using a hot weather/slow cure epoxy you can work for a long long time with the stuff. As in hours. Many hours if its cold where you work or you keep shoving the container of mixed epoxy into the freezer or refrigerator. (don't tell my wife I did that btw). My technique for mixing up small batches is the use of non-waxed paper cups and a pen. I made my "master" cup using water, measuring spoons, and the pen. As in five tbl spoons, mark cup, one more tbl spoon, mark cup again. Did it with several measures (tea spoon, etc), and copy the marks to the new cup as I progress through the project. Only screwed up and used the master cup once. Did/do my stiring and applying with the ever handy and cheap acid brush.

Woodglues and myself do not get along well. I've always found them weak and messy. I've sat in far to many spindly chairs glued together with it enjoying the flexing and listening to the joints cracking to like it. Same tables and quite a few butchers blocks and cutting boards. Yes, I've had some that held together wonderfully, but I didn't build them and don't know what they were glued with.

Gallon for gallon, I don't see wood glue as being particularly cheaper then epoxy either.
