I was planing to follow the method described in a link I found at: HTTP://OURWORLD.COMPUSERVE.COM/HOMEPAGES/BTREECS/ART_FOOT.HTM
The "pads" are 1 x 1 1/2 x 5/8 oak, ash or some other hardwood. The "rail" would be 1 1/2 x 12 x 3/4 or 7/8 oak. I have built 1 "prototype" and it seems to be very sturdy.
The bungy or stout rubber band would go through the top of the peg to the back of the rail (under a little lip).
