I built one last year. Started in early January, and it was done in April. I put 200-250 hours into it, including setup for the forms. I had experience building a stripper canoe, which probably saved me 50 hours of learning time on the kayak. I'll bet if I built another kayak now, I could cut another 25 hours or more from the total time - but why rush, enjoy the project...
