I go to Wal-Mart or some department store and get their cheapest water-shoe, basically a nylon mesh sock with a rubber sole. The price is usually less than $10 and they last a season or so. All the more expensive things I've tried don't last much longer.

In the winter I wear a neoprene bootie with a rubber sole.
