Hi Edgar,

You use Epoxy and wont have Acetone in the house!!

Well I find it to be the best cleaning agent prior to coating with epoxy. It evaporates fast so the time between cleaning and coating is fast. I live in a desert with a high level of mica dust (now that is bad news) and the wind is almost always blowing so I often only have a small window to coat.

I have never had a contamination failure with acetone. That much cant be said for tack cloths and the like. I have banned them from the workshop. I am also thinking about insisting on cotton gloves for all people who cant keep their hands off a newly sanded surface.

I have read some of these posts and it seems that this must be the most emotive part of kayak building. I wonder if the other "proff...."builders sustain the myth to promote .... Sorry I said nothing:))
