I'm partial to CLC boats having built 2, a Cape Charles and a Patuxent 17.5. And my girlfriend is building a North Bay as this is being written. But I like the cambered 3mm ply decks on the CLC boats. While I'm sure they are not as strong as a 4mm deck with glass inside and out, I've never broken my decks in 2 years of use. The unbroken expanse of woodgrain is attractive, and is made more so because there is no glass over it, just a couple of coats of epoxy and varnish.
