I'm looking for some acreage w/ a large (HUGE) barn to set up shop in. Maybe I'll even get to organize all those boxes of mixed hardware into the bins and drawers I bought years ago for that purpose.
I miss you guys. If I get some time, I may stay late and use the system here at work to visit the BBS. It'll be impossible to be as active as I once was (my wife won't give me up for that much time each day), but I'll try to get back in touch. My mother inlaw gave me a tupperware whitewater boat (too tippy for her), so I need to build a paddle as soon as I have a shop again.
You can cut/paste the message I sent to you if you think the BBS guys would be interested. Life sometimes takes turns which we did not have a part in steering towards.
If I get some time I'll post the story at the BBS, but it'll probably be awhile before I do.
There's alot of water out here, And I look forward to paddling next summer.
Take care of youself and your loved ones, - Mark

I'm okay. I appreciate the concern. I'm now in a new location across the country from Calif., and my new job doesn't require alot of computer waiting time anymore (multitasking), so I can't go to the BBS from work anymore. My computer (and other stuff) are still in Calif. for now, so I can't get to the web in my off hours either. The long story is pasted below...

Here is the email I sent out to my colleagues in Huntington Beach awhile back. One bit of past history not included in this message that may add clarity is that my wife's brother, an EA6B Prowler pilot, was killed in a naval aviation mishap about two years ago, which accelerated my father inlaw's decline into mental problems and thus intensified his alcoholism, which, as one can imagine resulted in a sort of viscous circle of disability for him.
The below message is not confidential, so you can feel free to forward it to anyone you think will benefit by knowing this information. Just keep in mind that my new location is confidential and should not be disclosed to anyone who doesn't need to know. _______________________________________________________
This is to clarify what's going on, and to avoid inaccuracies that rumors could create.
On Wednesday 16 Sept. my father inlaw was up in the mountains near Running Springs (Big Bear area). That evening he called my wife and began to harass her about miscellaneous family issues. Because of the ongoing problem and history of verbal abuse coupled with his alcoholism, she told him to call back when he gets sober. He responded by telling her that he was going to kill her, her husband (me), and her mother. We called the police, inquired about our options, and after weighing the options had him arrested. The charge is "Terroristic Threat", and is a felony. Police from the local area near Running Springs were dispatched and made the arrest. Westminster Police were then called, and drove up to the mountains to pickup my father inlaw. Hours later, even after sober, he continued to tell police he was going to kill us. He is currently being held without bail in Orange County jail, to the best of my knowledge.
It is possible that we averted a tragedy. There is no way to know whether he intended, or intends to carry out his threats. Therefore, we are taking it extremely seriously, and intend to leave California permanently. Boeing has been making efforts to relocate me to an out of state position, and it appears this will occur soon.
My new location is not open information, and should not be disclosed to anyone who does not need to know.
If anyone should call from outside the plant, take a message and don't disclose any information.
Thank you for maintaining confidentiality regarding my future whereabouts,
- Mark Kanzler
