Use what you have. The boat will be slightly heavier. Make sure you use the 4mm for the deck. The 6mm would work for the sides and the bottom. Against the opions that you read, I built a CLC Mill Creek and I'm completeing a Pygmy Osprey triple out of construction grade exterior fir plywood. Yes, they are slightly heavier, but bullet proof. The Osprey's weight is on target with the 4mm okume version, however, I went light on the epoxy and glassing operations. Regardless of what you use, I recommend that you sheath the hull with a light (approx. 2.5 to 4 oz) cloth and epoxy. Hope this helps.
