Thanks to all who posted suggestions to solving my image loading problem. I work in Silicon Valley, and I couldn't get the help I needed from any of the "local experts". As it turns out, my FTP software "Fetch" was the culprit. A little hunting around revealed that my Mac OS came with "Cyberdog", which does a much cleaner job of uploading files, is faster and much easier to use. Now I have some more cleanup work to do before I can proudly display my page, but I'm on the way now.
