The weather got warm before the rudder was installed, and I've been using it since without a rudder (still in box). Previous rental boat experience was the reason I felt I needed it, but up till now I have not been out in conditions where I would have used it anyway. I usually paddle Long Island Sound, launching from Little Bay, Little Neck Bay, or Hempstead Harbor, and have been out in 20-25 knot winds with no trouble, leaning the boat and offcentering the paddle are enough to keep things on track. I'm vey satisifed with both the boat & CLC.
