Today the boat changed from a "canoe with a removable top" to a real kayak. The bias tape behaved very well and unrolled great down the shear line. It's possible I didn't get the tape close enough to the ends. How close should it be? I used a 2" brush with the handle cut off and pushed the tape down as far as that would allow, but it seems like a long way from the end in the bow. I can go back and drag a short piece of tape down further if I need.
The bais tape, after sitting rolled up in a butter dish of epoxy for about 10 minutes, behaved very well. There are a few small voids (very small) right at the shear line, but I don't think I will worry with them except where visable from the cockpit and hatches.
I'll probably work on the outer seams this week after the inner seams have cured. I had a lot of mismatch around the cockpit at the shear (deck was too wide). I want to make sure the epoxy is set before removing the tape and straps.
Cold weather is starting to set in. May be a while before I'm able to take it out to do the end pour. Just 1 nice weekend.....
