The Okoume is substantialy lighter. If you are planning to use it for AR then you will be doing a lot of portage. Every extra pound feels like 10 during a race.
I built my tandem to race AR. I got carried away with the building process and kinda made a boat too nice to drag around. Now I have to make another. :-)
