: Shearwater boats has a unique wooden footbrace that rides along a center rail
: on the bottom of the hull. I find it to be very comfortable and easy to
: adjust on the fly. It provides plenty of support when bracing or rolling.
: It's made by Eric Shade, Nicks brother. You can find it on the accessories
: page for Shearwater.
Yes, I´ve seen this one too and another similar construction from Australia.
One disadvantage of these is that it´s hard to hold the hull floor clean from sand, grit, mud and other things that can tangle and hold among all hooks and corners. Dear old Isac Newton pointed out the gravity force and in company with Mr. Murphy things that can tangle and mix in an unconvienient? way, they do it. In order to confuse them we glued it all up under deck leaving the floor clean. It works great and is, I think, even easier to handle and serves as both footrest and pedalholders for those who use rudder.
Almost everyone of these ideas (indeed there are some early mondaymorning contraptions too) works great and you have to choose for yourself out of your terms and conditions whats best for you.
