: I also believe that when you carry a sea kayak with two people, especially a
: loaded one, it should ideally be cradled under the arms--the smooth keel
: line makes a comfortable place to grab onto and it is very secure with no
: chance of stressing a fitting. But make your fittings strong anyway.

If there are only two of you to carry a loaded kayak, it's best to spare
your arms entirely. Put your eight foot sling under the boat, give one
wrap round each perimiter line so it can't slip off, and krab the loops
to another sling over your shoulder. Of course, that makes it a lot harder
to let go of the boat if you are scrambling over seaweed and rocks, so for
that sort of thing you may prefer just to hang on to the sling - but its
still an easier carry. Better still is to be in a big enough party that
you can carry boats with one person each end and one each side of the
cockpit - paddling can be painful if you hurt your back partway through
a trip !

Sometimes, though, it's easier to move your laden boat by lining it
through water too shallow to paddle it - and then you need a good attachment
point at each end to tie/krab in your towline.
