: 5200 is by all accounts a great sealant, but takes days to cure.
There is a "Fast Cure" version of 5200 on the market now.
: Marine Goop
: should work well, and is readily available, cures much faster. I went
: through some of the same gyrations installing my day hatch lid, and wound
: up with the Goop, and it has worked extremely well for the last 6 months,
: I've seen very rough usage. I actually never even bolted the hatch lid, it
: is a tight fit and gooped.
Goop products are great. You needn't use "Marine" Goop for interior projects. The only difference between it and the less expensive Goop products is that M.G. contains UV inhibitors which make it more suitable for exterior use.
BTW, if you want to make it easier to use and reduce the curing time even more, thin it with toluene or MEK. It spreads easier, wicks into small crevices better and cures in a couple of hours.
: Sikaflex was another sealant folks here swore by, but I could not find that
: locally either.
I've heard good things about it, too, and it's somewhat of an industry standard, but I haven't used it...yet.
