Can't speak to the alignment question, but I read an article this AM that talked about using wood glue in low temperatures. I think you can go down to about 40*F with the Elmers. Article recommended using a small bottle and keeping it in your pants pocket when not applying to keep it warm and flowing. If it dries clear and hard, you're good to go, if it gets cloudy and stays soft it's too cold (obviously). Recommend a test on wood acclimated to the conditions you're in. Test joints should break the wood, not the glue I believe. I also saw an article or post a few days ago that talked about using a heat gun to gently warm the glue to dry it faster. I do know the glue freezes at 32*F.
: Hello,
: I'm ready to attach my forms to the strongback and get started. A few
: questions: 1) I'm thinking to mark the centerline on the strongback to use
: as the center reference, and then use a laser alignment tool to project a
: horizontal line at the waterline as I install each form. Has anyone tried
: this? What results?
: 2) My construction space is not heated and I live in central Ohio. What are
: the practical temperature limits for Elmer's wood glue? (heating the space
: is way too expensive)
: Thanks for the input
: Scott
