: Robert, what kind of blade did you use in the dremel for cutting out the
: cockpit?
I didn't use a blade, it was one of those new fangled cutting drill bits. You drill them into the wood and move the bit sideways to cut. I used it because I didn't have proper jig saw blades. It worked well enough but it was a little touchy to get a ncie straight cut. A jig saw with a fine blade works much better. A dremmel is useful for cutting into areas that are very tight. I haven't used a cutting wheel on the dremmel for that purpose yet but I know they would work well.
: Do you prefer that to a jig saw? If so, is it because it's
: neater, easier, or what? Than
The jig was better with a fine blade because it cut straighter, neater and quicker. You have to move the jig slowly as you cut to make sure it follows the cut line. Don't use a ripping blade (has as few as 12 teeth) those make a mess of the wood. There are some narrow blades with very fine teeth (as many as 30, I think) that are perfect for excellent cuts: that is what I used for cutting the cockpit out for the Raven.
Hope this helps.
