The only thing I'm suggesting is that it has been done. The usual method would be to use the strip boat as a plug to build a female mold...but that isn't always the case. I've also made a plug out of paper mache covered with plaster of paris. This worked quite well. Needles to say...few of us who post on this forum are big time commercial builders...though some of us WILL build and sell a kayak when the occasion comes up.
