John Munroe just did it: he stripped a compartment that kind looks like a peanut butter container complete with that lid. Now all he needs to do is put peanut butter in a baggie to insulate his stuff from physical shock AND, as you have suggested, he will also have his emergency rations ready when they are needed. The kayaking world is so utilitarian, so practical: it's awesome!
