: I guess I could buy a 60" roll and cut it in half off center a few
: inches, which would save about $30 or so vs. buying twice as much
: 38", but how in the world can you cut a roll of cloth in half clean?
: Would I have to unroll it, cutting as I went and take it up on two other
: spools? I think I would fray the edges all up and cut it crooked.
To cut it cleanly and accurately you can use a rotary cutter. It looks like a pizza cutter, women use them for quilting, you can get them at fabric stores for around $10.00. Use something as a backer board like a sheet of 1/4 hardboard and a straight edge. A smooth material like hardboard or MDF won't tend to snag the cloth like some plywoods might. You can slice it clean and straight with no frayed edges.
