I have made this little wood bracket to complement the wood boat. I reinforced it with glass and epoxy and then, with permission from the owner, drilled through the hull to mount with stainless bolts. The original builder had the rudder mounted on a different bracket with lag bolts into the deck. With nothing inside to really hold it, it broke off, so we decided on this. Seems to be holding, since the owner has not come back.
