On my first kayak, an expedition single, i had the strongback flipping over multiple times to get the small details aligned. Make sure you fasten the forms properly to the strongback. When you flip over, they will tell you, if you failed in doing so.

I am setting up forms for building one of Bryan Gorrs kayaks, and this one goes on an external strongback. Couldn't resist posting this pic. I bought the laser for about $12 in the local market. I have been playing with the laser for an hour or so, and am not entirely convinced it will be useful in setting up the forms, but the gadget factor is high :-)
