Very good to know nobody got hurt. I was at the marina a short time ago talking to a friend, and suddenly there was a huge "CRASH!" My friend (an old salty dawg) said "someone just got de-masted." Sure enough, a mast just decided to give way while the boat sat on the mooring with no wind. I guess what happens is the standing rigging gives on one side and the opposite side brings it down. Not a pretty sight.
Well, I guess we've learned a lesson- no matter how good your safety features are if you leave out one little thing it can all be worthless. ...something like that.
Someone once said "A lone amateur built the ark. A group of professionals built the Titanic."
Cheers,
Malcolm
