Rob, thanks for sharing your experience. Hoping we can learn from it.

There may be more to it that simply heat and stress on the glass. I've had kayaks car-topped all day in the blazing Texas sun, in my garage for weeks in temperatures that exceeds 100f at times, and have never experienced the white dots (or failing epoxy bonds anywhere, for that matter) on any kayak EXCEPT for the front of one mahogany coaming rim.

Perhaps this front section of rim had more stress, but this part was added a day after the rest of the rim, which has absolutely no problem. I suspected higher moisture in the wood, since I had soaked it to bend around the cockpit. The dots appeared within a month or two after it was built, and hasn't gotten any worse in the past year. I'll fix it when I'm ready to revarnish.

Could this problem be created only when epoxy still relatively 'green' (i.e.; less than one month old)? Only when applied over wood containing a lot of moisture? More likely with some epoxy brands? Some types of wood?

Not sure if we're describing similar problems, but maybe someone can tell us what is really going on here.
