But you know I think something to take into consideration, which hasn't been mentioned yet is the fiberglass cloth itself. If the boat is for you and you know what your going to be doing with it, then you can safely opt for a lighter layup without sacrifice of safety or peace of mind.
The normal layup is written out at 163g/m² but you can glass a boat with 80 g. fiberglass and still be okay. This lighter cloth requires less epoxy resin and is easier to work as well as its ability through the lighter weave to release the air bubbles if you didn't do a sealer coat..
Hardener of about an hour in the winter is fine (yes, even for first time users), temps about 18° C. Which will give you enough time to wet out and do your corrections. Use a shallow container and work with 300-400 ml per application...just know what you are going to do befor you begin...thats half the battle right there.
