I won't comment about which router is better, I'll just talk about power. Cutting a cove or bead on cedar doesn't require power. You are taking a small cut on soft wood. It will not slow down a weak router. While I haven't tried it you could probably mill quality strips with a good quality laminate trimmer.
Instead of power, you want a router that is solidly constructed. A sloppy router will make sloppy cuts. Look for good quality metal parts. The base may be plastic, and other plastic parts may be OK, but machined metal surfaces on the base and moving parts probably indicate a machine that will be more accurate.
