The entire Atlantic Coast is wonderful. Mark's suggestion above about staying at Oven's Campground near Lunenburg is a good one, and there's excellent paddling all around there. Be sure to check out Stonehurst South (just east of Lunenburg). I spend my summers there and I have a Night Heron, too - it'd be neat to see yours.

Another wonderful area to paddle is around Tangier, also on the Atlantic Coast and about as far down east of Halifax as Lunenburg is up?west?. Coastal Adventures is based out of there and they're a good source of information (the owner - Scott Cunningham - has written a guidebook about paddling around Nova Scotia). Also, if you're at all interested in a guided tour their tours and guides are really good. [disclaimer: I have no connection to them, I'm just a happy customer]

Cape Breton is stunningly beautiful but a bit of a drive. Lots of good paddling, *steep* bicycling and dramatic hikes.

There's camping, B&Bs and motels all over - some of the private campgrounds are pretty funky but the public ones are great. Five Islands (on the north shore of the Bay of Fundy) is particularly nice.
