Use pure Tung Oil. Its a natural non-toxic finish. Olive oil would work too, or vegetable oil. But Tung oil is really nice. It takes a long time to dry though. Mineral oil is not a good thing to ingest...

Don't coat them in ANY type of epoxy. or varnish. *NM*
