Pygmy Boats in Pt. Townsend Wa makes several multi chine kits. They are well designed boats. If building their kits though, bulkheads and hatches are extra. I built a 13' coho for my daughter and it's pretty nice. I too am thinking about building another boat for several reasons. One, a chance to buy more tools. Two, another boat means it's easier to get a paddle partner. Three, it's just fun to build a boat. Just a footnote, my hard chine shearwater does fine in the waves.

: Donnie, at Waters Dancing sells the Solace series of kayak that has more
: chines than my Lightning. The effect of more chines (4 in all, if I
: remember correctly) is that when finished it looks way more rounded and
: feels so. The Solace even has better primary and secondary stability that
: the Lightning. Maybe that's a way to go without getting into stripping.
