: When I drive a screw into the cleats, it pulls
: the form out of position.
(i don't use this method because of this problem as well as the need to have wide form spacing on larger/medium forms because of difficult access - tho' i can think of ways around it like larger backers)
however if i had this problem, i would drill out the form ONLY thru the screw hole to 1/8 - 3/16 inch and screw back in with a washer backed round head screw (or a big headed round head screw). (like the round head screw is round on the back but flat where it touches the wood)
then put the screws in just firmly, gently align/tap the form into place and then snug up the screw. the idea is that the screw shaft (just the washered head) does not come into contact with the form to pull it out of alignment
(if you were into it big time, 1/8 - 3/16" machine bolts placed exactly on each exactly placed backer board w/ forms predrilled oversize might be another way. then just firm up the nuts, align and snug them tight)
whichever method is used, it sure is nice to be able to simply loosen a form(s) and gently tap back and then firm up in place.
