Sorry, but I don't have any close-ups of the lip. I alternated dark wrc and white pine on the coaming on my wifes yak (like you did in your pic) then I just ripped thin strips from the various woods that I used on her boat. I built the lip out to about 3/4" using 3/8"wide x ~1/8" thick laminations. Actually 1/8" thick may be pushing it a little. Then the outside lamination was red oak.

I'm going to do the same thing on the yak that I'm building now(if I ever get that far) since it has red oak for the keel, stems, and sheer strips. I'm waiting for warmer temps so I can glass the exterior. My work space isn't heated and the man is talking temps in the low to mid 20's for Monday and Tuesday so I'm on "HOLD" till it warms up a little.
