Robert is right, ash responds very well to the heat gun treatment. I was astonished when the ash suddenly turned pliable, just like steel at orange heat. My stems came out great. 1/8 inch will bend very easily.

: That's how I bent a 1/2" strip of ash to do my rub strips for the stern
