I have been giving serious consideration to the B&B Yacht Designs Diva Kayak. I have not been able to find any serious paddler that has built the boat. But recently a lad down under, Chris Spooner, built a pair of them for a couple a ladies.
I have emailed with him and talked to him about the building process a good bit. He recently sent me some construction photos of the two Diva's he built. Very good looking boats for sure. As I gain some knowledge of what makes a good Sea Kayak I have one concern about these boats.
Looking at the photo the bow at the front of the cockpit seems extremely tall to me. While it looks good, would this have any negative effects? I was thinking about rolling the boat and perhaps added sail area on windy days?
I am also wondering about thigh braces location. However if I enlarge the photo I can see on the girls knee and see that it is not as far forward as I thought it would be.
I am sure the deck could lowered in the building process. After studying the photos I think the deck height is in direct relation to the bulkhead shape directly in front of it.
