: I have been giving serious consideration to the B&B Yacht Designs Diva Kayak.
Jeff, as a result of your post, I spent some time looking at the B&B web site and archives (at both the Diva and Birder). I too am deciding on a winter project. The Diva looks interesting, it's a good size for me and should have a lot of stability. Since you have done a significant amount of homework on this boat over several months, I wonder if you can give me some additional information. (sorry, I know you were looking for answers and I'm here with questions, hope I didn't overlook the answers somewhere).
- are there advantages you see in the Diva over other plans...such as the Shearwater Merganser 15 (actually 15'6"x24")?
- re building: is the actual panel cutting/building simpler than other boats?
- do the plans call for full fiberglassing of the hull and deck?
- do the plans come full size?
- its hard to tell from the pictures, but do you know the shape of the hull cross-section at the cockpit? Is there much V to the bottom? And is there much flare to the side panels coming up to the shear line?
: I am sure the deck could lowered in the building process. After studying the
: photos I think the deck height is in direct relation to the bulkhead shape
: directly in front of it.
I think you are right, the deck could be lowered in the building process....and you could take care of cockpit size/shape to accommodate knee braces.
Thanks for any information, wish I had more to offer you....but do offer encouragement. Gayle
